Central Ohio Agronomy Field Day

Precision Agriculture and the Economics of Technology will be the focus of the Central Ohio Agronomy field day set for August 25. 
 
Researchers and extension specialists from the University of Kentucky and The Ohio State University will be complimented from industry specialists to provide for a comprehensive look at the science and technology needs in applying precision agriculture to commercial farms.
 
Autosteer Benefits, Swath Control and Managing Global Positioning Accuracy will be addressed during the field day by specialists from the University of Kentucky. OSU Extension specialists will present reports on the status of disease issues in corn and soybeans. Dr. Anne Dorrance will present the latest recommendations. Nutrient Management Issues and the use of Micronutrients to Enhance Crop Performance will be addressed by OSU’s Robert Mullen.
 
Yield Monitor Benefits, Using Yield Map Data and Variable Rate Technology will be presented by Isaac Ferrie of Crop Tech Consulting of Heyworth, Illinois. 
 
Other attractions will include Nitrogen Sensing, Grid Sampling, Calibrating Yield Monitors and Dermascan Skin Health Screening. Renovating Sod Waterways will also be addressed through demonstration.  
 
The event will be held at the David Miller farm near Millersport, Ohio. The address is 10750 Millersport Road.
 
The program offers up to 1 hour of professional development, 1 hour of pest management, 3 hours of crop management, and 1 hour of nutrient management for certified crop advisors. 
 
No preregistration is required. The event will cost $10.00 to cover the cost of the noon meal. Events get underway at 9:00 a.m. and run until 2:30 p.m. Registration and view of exhibits starts at 8:30 a.m. Sponsors of the event include the OSU Extension offices in Fairfield, Pickaway, Perry and Licking Counties.
