Overview

The Specialist sections provide a view of all content throughout the site that is relevant for each specialty. These sections are comprised of a folder that contains a page as the display, along with numerous other items that assist in filling out the other blocks for the public view. The public view of these pages consists of: a Title, Lead Image, Body Text, Resources block, Newsletter Articles block, Research block, General Information block, Contacts block, Multimedia block. Categorization of content is how most of the blocks work.

Access the specialists folders by clicking the contents tab.

Title, Lead Image, Body Text

These elements are controlled like any other page. Currently each specialist folder has two pages with the same Title as the specialty. These pages are used differently and have different short-names. To change the Title, Lead Image, or Body text you will want to edit the page that is the display for the folder, and hence will be bolded in the contents list. If you go to the folder, and click the edit tab, you won't have to worry about that distinction as you will be editing the display page for that folder automatically.

Newsletter Articles Block

This block will display Newsletter Articles that are categorized with the specialty. It contains sub-blocks for each Specialist. The specialist sub-blocks will display the 10 most recent articles for the specialty by that specialist (listed as an author for the article), followed by a link to view all articles by that specialist. At the bottom there is a link to view all Newsletter Articles, this will take you to a list of all articles categorized with the speciality regardless of who the author was.

Research Block

The Research block will display the 10 most recent Files, Pages, Links, or Images that have been added to the research subdirectory of the On-Farm Research section.

Newsletter Archives Block

The Newsletter Archives block will display the 10 most recent Links from the Newsletter Archives subdirectory. The purpose of this block is to include articles from the archives that were not created using the current system. Do not add these links now. The site needs to launch before this block can be used. There is a test item currently in this block that will be removed.

General Information Block

This block will display the 10 most recent Files, Pages, Links, or Images that have been added to the General Information subfolder of the Specialty. These items do not need to be categorized with the specialty. The purpose of this block is to give you the flexibility of displaying items on the specialty page that do not fit into the other sections of the site.

Contacts Block

Displays a list of contacts, contributors that have been categorized with the specialty.

Multimedia block

Displays the most recent multimedia item categorized with the specialty. Multimedia items should be added to the multimedia folder within the Photo Library.
